If you have been reading or following on Instagram for any length of time, then you know I LOVE leather leggings. I’ve posted before about 5 outfit ideas for leather leggings. Since that post, I have styled them so many more times! Today I thought I would do a full post about how to wear leather leggings. I know the Spanx are a splurge, but the pictures speak for themselves on how much wear I have gotten out of them. I size up one for comfort.
Pair Leather Leggings with a Casual Top and Shoes
Who doesn’t love a casual legging outfit?! I know I live in them. I love pairing any longer casual top with leggings for an easy outfit. In this post I am wearing the Free People thermal/flannel combo, a long tunic style top (so soft!!), and the best Aerie sweatshirt. As you can see, boots, sneakers, or wedge sneakers are ideal shoe choices for more casual looks.
Style Leather Leggings with a Poncho
A poncho is an ideal piece for a leather legging outfit combination. My nature they are a little looser and longer making them perfect for a more fitted bottom. This is regularly a go-to winter outfit for me.
Opt for a Tunic Length Sweater
Similar to a poncho, a tunic sweater is perfect for leggings! They are usually looser and longer. I love the affordable pink one below. In the second photo, I am sharing my leopard leggings I just purchased with a black sweater and boots for a dressier look. You can read my post about how to dress up leggings here.
Try and Cardigan and T-Shirt
I love a longer cardigan and a t-shirt to pair with leggings. Such an easy and cute combo! My rust colored one with my Bing shirt has been a favorite combination of mine.
Dress Them up with Over the Knee Boots
Over the knee boots and leggings make for a perfect date night outfit! I love pairing my windowpane sweater dress/tunic with leggings. It’s a dressy and fun combination. Below I have worn my favorite Free People sweater (on sale!!) with a scarf and over the knee boots.

I recently bought some leather leggings in a charity shop. I am not sure about them as I am nearing 40 but I would feel more confident wearing them in public with a tunic or long cardigan.
I do not own a single pair of leather leggings 🙁 I have to fix this terrible fashion mistake in the new year, because you make them look so pretty! Thanks for the post 🙂
