I am constantly trying to think about how to get the most out of my closet and how to help you get the most out of yours. That’s what we all want right? Pieces we can wear multiple ways. Ideas on how to restyle things. More bang for our buck, etc. Today I thought I’d show you a completely restyled outfit. While things like jeans, sweaters, and t-shirts are obvious wardrobe basics and essentials in any closet, I really think a good blouse and a midi skirt are the backbone of my dressier wardrobe.
How to Get the Most Out of Your Closet
Buy Multi-Functional Blouses
This pretty floral blouse first made it’s appearance during my Nordstrom sale posts here. I was drawn to the color, print, and fun sleeve details. Bonus: it comes in 5 color/print options including a dark black floral, a polka dot, and a solid. During the sale it was a major score, but even full price it is only $49. I first styled it with jeans, and I love it that way. It works equally as well tucked into this pretty blush skirt for work (that’s where I wore it), church, a baby shower, etc. I can also see it with untucked tailored pants or tucked into high waisted culottes for an equally polished look. A good blouse works equally well for a date night as it does for the office.
Consider a Midi Length Skirt
I have a couple midi length skirts (and dresses) in my wardrobe, and they are hands down my most worn items. The length just makes them SO versatile. I know some people think this length isn’t flattering on them due to height, but I would challenge you to try it on. You’d be surprised just how flattering this silhouette is when it hits in the right spot (mid-calf) and also sits high on your waist. It creates a long leg line – who doesn’t want that?!
The length also makes it multi seasonal. You can wear a midi in the warmer months, and you can also add a sweater and boots and wear it in the cooler months. I love midi skirts/dresses with OTK boots (something I’ve done with my darker colored skirts). My skirt is obviously old, but I am linking similar options below.
This blush skirt is probably my most blogged item of clothing. Today’s post makes 7 posts with it! If it’s been on that blog that many times, imagine how much I wear it in real life. Check below for all the links to previous posts.

I agree with you – midi skirts are more flattering and more versatile than I expected based on my 5’3″ frame. I have a few now and loving wearing them to work because I don’t have to worry about anything riding up when I sit down!
